We Were Soldiers...

Recorded We Were Soldiers off the telly a few weeks back - so not even a DVD experience - but what a great film. I'm glad to see it's out on Blu Ray and I'm sure I'll get it as soon as I finally get into my new house and invest in all the kit.

What I was pondering though - is that seeing it has Mel Gibson in, and although not his best, is certainly up there with the likes of The Patriot and certainly better than say Conspiracy Theory - why it's never really registered on the radar.

I don't remember it being out in the cinema and I only really noticed it in my local (crappy) video store, tucked away in the war section.

Would I be right in thinking that this is actually a great film - with an awful title ? I reckon 'We were Soldiers' is such a drivel title it's made this great film go otherwise unnoticed...

any thoughts???

I liked it but it isnt one of the films you want to watch regularly as it is quite long and the pace aint right either.

good film indeed, i got the dvd as soon as it was out, its based on a book which is called the similar but complete 'we were soliders once...and young' which was written by the mel gibson charicter as well as input from his NVA counterpart and the reporter attached to the unit, key point to keep in mind with the book/film this its set back when the war in vietnam did have general support in the usa.

I may well invest in that as am hoping to spend 2 weeks sitting by Lake Annecy in the summer and reckon that would help while away the time...
