Here is a version of an ABX test -

http://www.sieveking-sound.de/abx/

I tried it yesterday and it was interesting. When I set the difference in colour to max (10) and with a colour where it was most noticeable, I got 14 out of 15 right.

Which to me means that (if done for sound) - if I can hear a difference I should be able to recognise it in an ABX test and if I can regognise it, there is a worthwhile difference (in sound of kit). Also, if I cannot reliably recognise sound difference in an ABX test, I should not worry about it as it is absolutely negligible.

For me this means: ABX testing - good.

Doesnt it just show whether you can see different colours?

It checks if you can reliably recognise a difference repeatedly (provided you can see it in the first place).
