If anyone is interested i noticed today that our local Waitrose is offering 5 yr warranty on all the tv's at the moment. Am right in thinking they are part of the John Lewis group?

Yes they have an electrical department. Well ours does. Sell tv's,dvd players, pc/laptops,dab radios etc. Its a big store. Used to be safeway store before they were bought out by morrisons
