I am hunting around for a Panasonic Viera 32LXD700, of which it is running out of stock. However I can still find it at places, but currently struggling to get a price match at John Lewis.

With the new ranges of sets out there, should I still be looking at getting this set, or are there any newer models that I should be looking at.

I particularly liked the review of the 700, the sound being important as I don't have surround system. Do the newer models lag behind the 700 in this respect ?

Thanks for any advice.

I have the 32lxd700 and am very impressed with it. I generally listen to it through the hifi which is very good but for the last few weeks (lots of DIY and decorating) I have had to rely on it's in built sound. The sound is very impressive from the TV and films sound good with the SRS tru-surround.

The picture quality is very good on freeview, up scaled DVD and blu ray. IMO the all black styling is great. The wide viewing angle is also very impressive.I would highly recommend this set partiyou should get it considerably less than the replacement sets.

I think you owe it to yourself to check out the LX (HD ready) or LZ (full HD) 800 series (don't look at the 85 series as the sound is not as good) first as there may be some picture improvements though I suspect very minor. I have viewed the 800 LZ and thought it very good for pictures and sound, quite liked the styling too.

The main advantage of the newer sets is 24fps support. You do notice some judder on the 700 with blu ray.

Good luck

The only slight downside to the 700

Thanks Cooney - most useful.

That has made my mind up to get the 700 - found it £690 ot JL £799 on price match. Not sure if it is worth £100 for the warranty for me (not that it isn't worth it at all).

I just got the TH37px80 and whilst its not what you're looking for I did notice the new range is cheaper across the board (37px70 cost 100 pounds more) and Panasonic are doing a free 5 year warranty if bought in store !! Mine was 585 quid !!

Trawl the net for a bargain and, if you go and get it, you get a 250 pound warranty for the cost of your petrol !!!

Useful again Andy. Now I really don't know.

Has any of the new ranges got the picture quality and sound quality of the LXD700 ? (Must be 32")
