Hi

Just a few thoughts on the video reviews here on the website. I apologise if this has been discussed before.

It seems that basically the review consists of pans around the product with one of the team reading the written review that is also on the website. I can't help but think you're missing a trick here. I'll base my ideas on the LG BD390 review.

Why not have the item plugged in and show the menus, loading time etc.

Run through the functions such as the media player and give an opinion on the sound and picture quality, and ease of use when using this. Obviously you can't actually show the PQ and SQ.

I do appreciate that this approach might not work so well on hi-fi components but with AV gear it could help us make a more informed buying decision.

Cheers

Paul

All good feedback, thanks - we're always looking at ways to improve our coverage, and the loading-time idea is certainly a great one for Blu-ray players.

My only caveat about packing in lots of demos (apart from the fact that it's impossible, as you say, to convey sound/pic quality) is the resulting length of the videos - shorter videos are a lot more popular.

But hey, maybe we could have occasional longer, director's cut editions

Nah, people would only complain the videos looked too grainy

Andy Clough:Some good suggestions there that I'll discuss with the video team.

The tracking shots? Yeah, I like that one - a big sweep down the central staircase, through the double doors into the listening rooms, pick up the gear, back through the....

Actually, shall I just storyboard it?

The boys are donning their motion-capture bodysuits as we speak...

Hello,

Yes, standing there, pointing to the machine and reading from a script is hardly a 'video review'.

Show it in action, play around with it - more interactive than stagnant, I would say.

Thx.
