Here we go, I have noticed a few references to 'valves' here. I though I would draw your attension to the Turntable section, I have put a bit about my new valve amps under 'HiFi corner'

In the meantime her is a pic of my valves all aglow, to me 'hifi porn' . . . :

Nice to see your Rega on a sturdy wall shelf instead of a floor mounted support next to speakers.

How does your valve amp compare to what you had before? Which sonic aspects are better and are there any that are worse?

I must admit I think they look beautiful.

One of the electrical whizz-kids at work has promised he'd build me a valve pre-amp to experiment with.

Lovely but those bottles look so exposed. I'm afraid I'd have to put it on a very high shelf if I ever got anything like it. :)

To right Alears, definatly high shelf, its OK if the children are fledged of course, fortunatly I dont have these problems, the cover to my Icon is still in its box. Have you ever seen an atractive valve cover???

Great HiFi porn pics people.

The 'sturdy shelf' was a must, big improvement over a book case! I made it my self, its a recycled, cottage open backed, bent wood, arm chair, you might just get a sence of the chair from the bent wood suports?

The Rega is modified, and an Audiomods tone arm fitted, sounds like a million dollas.

As you can see from my sig (which I cant seem to change?), I had (have for sale) a Croft amplification before, I tried to move up their range but the dynamics did not suite my style, prefering something more laid back these days. The Icom Stereo 40 MKIII does that with just the right dynamics and style to suit this grey haired retiree. As a younger man, I apreciated something with dynamic attack . . . via EAR 509's.
