Using Digital Piano/Synth with HiFi

Can a good quality hifi handle the signal from a digital piano/synth?

I have only recently grasped the concept of matching speakers to amp, taking into account RMS power and impedence.

But what about matching source output to amp input? The instrument in question has:

+21DBu maximum output
400 ohms balanced source impedance

Will this be too hot for an aux input on an amp? Can anybody think of a solution/suitable amp?

Thank you.

You should be OK.

Plug a CD player into another input, then switch between the inputs to match the input volume level, so the synth doesn't overload the input stage- I'd set it slightly lower than the CDP level for safety.

Whilst trying to play bass guitar through a hifi is not the greatest idea, I couldn't see too much problem with a synth as long as you go careful with the levels...
