Originally posted in the dac forum, but this a a 'pc' issue rather than the dac itself, basically the internal soundcard is not being bypassed when I plug the dac into the usb, the setting on the internal soundcard is for 44.1khz and the LED on the dacmagic says 48khz for sample rate

the same happens with a Vdac, no sound, but stil sound from the computer speakers, the internal soundcard gets bypassed normally when the dac is turned on. but its not happening, Assuming the dacs are ok, and the usb bus is fine as all other usb ancillaries such as printer, mouse etc work fine,, ,

Is there something obvious I am missing

Missing spotify through the hifi  , the pc speakers dont cut it

:help:

You need to tell the computer to send its audio-output through the device you've just plugged in. How to do this varies a little depending on what operating system your PC is running.

Its windows 7 and I am using a CA azur dacmagic , I assume the usb lead is ok as I get the 'kerplunk' sound from the pc speakers telling me a usb device has been plugged in or switched on , yet the music still comes out of the pc speakers and not via the dac, strange

I have never needed to tell the pc to send the signal to the dac before , it found it straight away when I first used it, ie plug and play

Right click the volume and open up play back devices, set the USB as default, does that not work?

Thanks for the help... so far :)

The set default tab is greyed out :wall:

also had a look at the CA technical help via the link, but before I intall any software (should I even need to do this) the original dacmagic instructions say no drivers are needed !

So I have sent an email to CA to see if they can help, if they cant what hope is there lol, I do believe there are no faults with the pc or the dac, everthing else works fine, the dac has just been working fine on optical from my cd player,

surely someone knows how solve this issue to get the dac to display 44.1 again , and yes 44.1 is ticked in realtek audio soundcard managment

Disable the realtek audio stuff.

Go to hit the Windows Key, type "msconfig" and hit enter, look under services (click the radio button that says "hide all microsoft services" and look for anything relating to realteck, do the same under the startup tab. Click apply then reboot.

Do you now get the option to select default devices when you right click the volume icon?

If that doesn't work then you can revert the process and nothing has changed.
