Hey,

Just bought an Arcam irDAC. Amazing.

I'm using an old USB 1.0 cable because the cable that came with the irDAC is too short for my needs.

Should I be looking at buying a USB 2.0 cable, since I often see 'audiophile' cables that read "Strict adherence to USB 2.0 specification".

I'm not asking if I need an expensive cable. I'm just wondering if there's a difference between USB 1 and USB 2.

Best,
Will

If it's for 16 bit / 44.1KHz (or 48KHz) then USB 1.0 is fine.

If it's for async 24 bit / 96KHZ (or 192KHz) then I would get a decent quality (like Belkin) USB 2.0 cable.

I too wouldn't bother with 'boutique' (or audiophile) USB cables but just stick with reputable computer cable brands from a proper shop (like Argos or PC World or Tesco) rather than ebay.
