upscaling question.

Hello All

I'm wondering why my Pioneer bdp51-fd blu-ray player is only scaling standard dvd's upto 1080i, if i set at 1080p the screen goes all discoloured and distorted.

When i play a blu-ray disc i use use 'source direct' and get 1080/24p etc. no problem, i'm thinking maybe it's because my Yamaha av amp only upscales to 1080i?

I don't want the the Panasonic plasma or the Yamaha av amp to upscale only the said Pioneer,but not quite sure which is doing the scaling,any ideas please?

Hiya,

I'm not entirely sure, but if your HDMI cable from the player is routed through the amp, you may need to select a setting on the player that allows it (the player) to upscale, rather than the amp.

Make sure that your tv is actually 1080P compatible first

Then make sure the dvd player IS upscaling to 1080P

And that the amp is set for that hdmi input to THROUGH only (Or might just be called 'off' ot whatever)
