I'd be interested in upgrading my Sky installation. To do so I think I would need an upgraded LNB unit like this?

Any other suggestions?

I could also upgrade the cable with something like these -

Russ Andrews also do V20 Coax cable.

Is it F-connector to F-connector I would need?

Would doing the above make a sizeable difference?

On a related note, you can spend thousands on blu-ray players etc, but no-one has brought out a premium Sky box. Would this be because Sky license the technology or that they dont want too many different manufacturers making boxes that may give technical problems down the line, for instance upgrading the EPG?

What do you currently have from Sky?

If you are upgrading to Sky+HD then a quad lnb, new dish, new cables may be part of the upgrade installation.
Some installers do this some don't depending on how old is but he quad lnb I am pretty sure is now standard.

IMHO I wouldn't change the coax downleads from the lnb if they are working.

Are you getting signal quality reception issues?

http://www.satellitesuperstore.com/skylnb.htm#titaniumskyquatro That's actually the wrong kind of LNB for your average/standard installation....

Quatro LNB's are for use in satellite distribution/communal systems( the sort of set-up used in flat's/apartment's) and require the use of a multi-switch!

If your going to change the LNB for a higher performance one then you need a quad LNB. Like this for example.

But to be honest i wouldn't bother changing your LNB for a higher performance one unless your have signal problems in bad weather(known as rain fade) as that's the real benefit of these types of LNB, a greater margin of preventing rain fade.

The cable used by Sky/Freesat/Independent installer's for Satellite installation's is actually very good quality, and in term's of RFI screening is usually better specced than some of those cable's you've mentioned.

So, i wouldn't bother changing it unless again you're having signal problem's or suffering from rain fade.Even then i would only change it to Webro WF125, see here, but shouldn't really necessary unless you have fairly long cable runs from dish to STB.
