Turntables and speakers: how close is too close?

I'm thinking of getting a turntable (project debut possibly) but my speaker is right next to the stand, although slightly infront and pointing away from the stand. would I have problems with feedback in this setup? Should I knock the idea on the head?

Sounds like you have the same arrangement as me... I haven't noticed any problems, but I do have a budget deck so am not as critical of it as I am the rest of my system (expectations et al).

Others I'm sure will be able to give you a better answer, as I'm sure it is technically "less than ideal", but as I say, no obvious or apparent problems...ÿ
