Turntable interconnect to phono amp

I'm currently using the Pro-Ject supplied interconnect between my turntable and my phono amp. The rest of my systems interconnects are VDH. I'm now wondering about replacing the turntable/phono amp IC. Given that the signal from a turntable is so low, are 'ordinary' interconnects appropriate? And if I do replace it with, say, another VDH how do I link the turntable earth to the earth point on the phono amp? I've looked and can't see and discrete leads for this purpose (currently it's part of the Pro-Ject interconnect that I'm using). Finally, does this seem like a worthwhile change or one that is best left alone? Thanks...

Quick 'bump' as I'm still interested in finding out the answers...

If you're content with the way it sounds then it's best left alone. Capacitance is quite critical on a turntable interconnect and replacing it may brighten or dull the sound excessively.
