Could an electricity wire from a lamp, positioned near the antena connection on the tuner , have damaged the tuning capability? heard a WOoomp from the speakers and then the tuner couldn' find any station...no signal.

Only if metal to metal contact took place (with a live and exposed mains wire) - resulting in a short circuit - would this be at all likely.

As (I am sure) you have no exposed conductor wires on your lamp flex then I cannot see how this could happen.

I have a whole snake-pit of cables - including mains - near my FM co-ax aerial cable and it is not a problem. (Besides, antenna cable is screened.)

chebby:Do you have the standard, double-screened, 75 ohm coax down-cable from your roof?

No,not really .I was connecting a friend of mine's stereo.I dont even remenber if I had the simgle wire provided with the set connected to it. it's not a new stereo, just made me feel guilty if it was me that ruined the tuner.thx for the answer chebby.
