I have had my Monitor Audio RX1s fo a while now connected to a Marantz M-CR603.
The speakers are only 125mm from the rear wall and at first I was very happy with the sound but recently I have felt that the lower mid range is not quite right.
So I put the port bungs in which were supplied by MA bud did not like the result as the bass seemed to lack punch. I then used some open cell foam like the type used on microphones 25mm thick. This did the trick cleaned up the lower midrange and did not reduce the bass IMO
I suppose the open cell material probably gave the same effect as using drinking straws, you can still feel air coming out of thr rear ports but not at the same velocity as before.
