For the last couple of months ive been looking at reasonable upscaling dvd players, which good better a ps3 for £300 pounds, most peoples opinion was not to bother as you need to spend far more more than that to see any noticable changes. And with Toshiba losing the war over hd and bluray, have decided to release a buget player for £120. If this new player is that good it cant be good for bluray, customers wont pay £300, 500 1000 pounds for a blu ray player and then £15 pounds or more for films. So are we to expect more companies improving the standard of dvd playback in the newer models of bluray players so we can benefit from both. If not £120 pounds seems a bargain and will certainly bring more life to standard dvds slowing the progress rate of blu ray players.I cant wait to see a review just what i need to keep me going for a couple of years at least. Does whf team have any news on this product and when are we likely to get a review. Many thanks for any replies.

We have it in right now. Review to appear in our next issue, out September 18th.

And we'll be testing it against both DVD players and Blu-ray players.

Its still not HD at its source. They are the only company still trying to hang onto DVD with everyone else pushing forward with BD.

my guess is that it won't be so good...(witch I am...)...would spend money in a dvd player nowadays,I'd go for blu-ray player with good upscalling of dvd.We might have to wait some time more, for blu-ray films to get cheaper. Not enough selection of movies in B-ray either...

As you have said there is already a big base of DVD players. Why would anyone want to invest in a DVD player to watch on a HDTV. Anyway let them at it. Toshiba has already burned alot of customers already.

well as they are still putting out DVD's of new films why not? BR disc are still premium price and the ones in the local supermarket are not shifting. But DVDs still do. I went on a hunt to buy a BR the other week Very very hard to find any. But thats Sweden for you.

not me, i knew that HDDVD had lost the 'war' so to speak and i purchased a HDDVD player for a pittance on amazon, included were a bunch of films. the player is a very good dvd upscaler indeed. i paid less than 60 quid... my player can be sold second hand on ebay for more so i think it was more foolish not to buy one when they were dirt cheap...

oh and when you say HDTV i assume you mean Full HDTV?
