Toshiba EP35

Hi, I know the Toshiba EP35 is region coded for SD dvd but can anyone tell me categorically that it is region free on HD dvd. Some say it is, some not. I notice Play.USA now says it's Region 1 HD discs will only play on US HD dvd players.

I know there are plans under discussion to introduce region coding on HD DVD (read more here), but as far as I know none of the players released to date have it for HD DVD playback.
