why do some designers decide to use 20Hz frequency for bass control when most if not all speakers cant even reproduce it , what is the point of boosting something that is not heard, most manufactuers use a useful 50 or 100 hz to give a sense of bass weight if you feel the need to adjust , noticed even cambridge audio use 20 Hz to their bass boost /cut , so its not just high end amps that might be used with equipment that might just reproduce 20Hz at a push, can we even hear 20Hz as sound? ? , and does music even contain 20Hz, why 20Hz seems piontless

The peak may be at 20Hz, but the slope could be two octaves or more so you'll hear it all the way up to 100Hz+, a bit like this:

The idea is it gives a more natural-sounding lift than 100Hz.
