My trusty and much loved TX-NR515 has been earmarked for replacement after 3 years of faultless service. I bought this receiver as a stop gap after buying it very cheaply in Richer Sounds but loved it and stuck with it.

When it comes to movies I am more than happy with its performance, it's the music side of things I'm looking to improve.

I have a music server that I have built as all of my music is now digital or streamed (spotify), the audio output is via a HRT Music Streamer II+ so I am pretty confident my source side of things doesn't need improving for now, the speakers are B&W 603 S3 and are here to stay for a few more years yet.

I have seen the Sony STR-DN1050 in Richer Sounds for £299 which sounds like a bargain but happy to spend up to £500 for the right amp if it's that much of an improvement.

Your thoughts and recommendations are very welcome!

If dolby atmos, DTS:X and HDCP 2.2 interests you, look at the Denon AVR-X2200W, ask nicely and you may get it a bit cheaper if you go in and ask at richer sounds.

The Denon is a good call and I have already auditioned it with my own equipment (a friend bought one so brought it to my place), the dolby atmos doesn't bother me at all, DTS:X and HDCP 2.2 could be handy later, I thought it was a beautiful sounding amp but it runs out of puff too quickly and just couldn't deliver the volume I often listen to music at most weekends once the wine starts flowing! What it did show was just how powerful the Onkyo is for a budget receiver!
