Thinking of upgraging, any suggestions?

Currently running an Rotel RC-870 pre amp with RB-870 and RB-850 power amps, AMC CD6 CD Player and Lake Audio 5.2 floorstanders. The sound is very forthright and edgy but may be a little harsh IMHO. Is there an upgrade for the CD player I could consider (i.e new laser etc) as I am fond of it's sound but it will occassionally be disk selective. Points to consider - I have a Cambridge Dacmagic en route soon, and a Linn Pretek and powertek pre/power combo also. With this is mind, should I look to change the CD player or stick with it using the Dac as my 'mini-upgrade'? Cheers Stevie

Yeah Drummerman, just wondering if the AMC (although I love the sound) is justified with the LInns I guess.

I'm not going to be helpful here but if you still love the sound of your AMC when using your linn components then it is justified. You wont know til you try. Perhaps anybody else has heard that combination but I doubt it somehow.

Not one of my strong points either but why waste money when what you have (and like) might do the job perfectly well. Hope thats the case for you anyway.
