1) When given a fresh copy of an analogue master on three 45rpm discs, nothing can touch vinyl
2) Anything less than that, and vinyl really isn't all that
3) I have too many wires
4) My wife thinks my hifi is beautiful and shouldn't be hidden in a cupboard
5) Now she tells me
6) Paul Simon at 45rpm sounds quite like Paul Simon at 33.3rpm

Nothing can touch good Jazz pressings from the late 50s and early 60s. Vinyl was harder, heavier, and shinier and blokes in white coats with lots of pens in their top pockets cut the masters. They also smoked which made their hands steadier on the controls.

There are always too many wires. You know the answer and it has a powered input for the Stageline.

Your wife is just reacting to all this stuff coming back out of storage and dominating your attention. Indifference will follow in good time and normailty will be resumed. (I think you mentioned you built shelves. That always helps.)

The last time I had a S&G album I was 14 (a present). I have never bought anything by Paul Simon but he cannot be avoided on local BBC radio alas. Seems to be some kind of drive-time staple. Don't know why. Could induce sleeping at the wheel.

It was Mrs JD's turn, otherwise I wouldn't have learned these things...
