For those whose musical education began (and sometimes ended) with pop music, there's usually one standout record - great tune with lyrics you can personally relate to sung by a credible artist or artists which when you hear it on the radio immediately transports you back to when you first heard it. Only the Lonely by Roy Orbison does it for me.

For me it is Bedsitter by Soft Cell. That song summed up how my life was in the very early 2000's perfectly.

`Bringing On Back The Good Times` by the Love Affair is a pretty decent pop record I`d say.

Nuthin will ever eclipse The 80#s for music, nothing..... it made the 70's, 60's, 50's, 40's all look daft apart from a selected few... Sinatra, Elvis, Dean, Bing, Jolson.... being the main 'others'.

The 80's beats all. :bounce: , The 80's were without doubt ... 8)

Silly question as no way ONE tune does it all :)

Hmmnn...interesting theory. Mind you, I`ve never really thought that Abba, Beatles, Rolling Stones, Walker Brothers, Diana Ross, Bee Gees, Glen Campbell, Roy Orbison, Squeeze, The Jam, Stranglers, Kate Bush, Matt Monro, Queen, ELO, The Move, Moody Blues, Eagles, Genesis, Marvin Gaye, Andy Williams, Stevie Wonder, Smokey Robinson, Blondie, Maze, Earth,Wind and Fire, New Seekers, The Seekers, Cliff Richard/Shadows, Fleetwood Mac, Dionne Warwick, Rod Stewart, The Faces, Small Faces, Chic, Jackson Five, Hollies, Roxy Music, The Animals, Carole King, Simon and Garfunkel, Donovan, Bob Dylan, Del Shannon, Tom Jones, Everley Brothers, The Kinks, Joni Mitchell, The Supremes, The Byrds, Tina Turner, Dusty Springfield, Beach Boys, Four Tops, David Bowie, Slade, Marc Bolan/Trex, 10cc, Elton John, The Carpenters, Linda Ronstadt, The Doors, Donna Summer, Wings, John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, The Police, The Yardbirds, The Who, The Monkees, Bruce Springsteen, Smokie, Sweet, Barry Manilow, Billy Joel, Barbra Streisand, Meat Loaf, Rose Royce and Neil Young to name a few, come across as particularly daft. ;)
