Fitted and aligned the new cartridge today — really need to get the VTA sorted as the arm is a little bit too laid back.

Set it to 2.0g

Need to play a few records to run it in — feels quite detailed at the moment with little surface noise.

Happy so far…

Be patient on the run in time.

Here is a set of shims with a new 'gap idea' to make it easier to fit them, no need to remove the arm? :?

Steve, with the 2mm spacer in, does your lid shut without touching the counter weight?

Damnnnn Chebby — I wish I had seen that before. Oh well…

Added a 2mm spacer this evening — a grown man can scream when the sub platter knocks off the needle guard as the arm swings loose — luckly it kind of pinged off and pushed the arm away.

Note for next time — masking tape to keep things in place or remove the cartridge first!

Also — either I have gone a tiny bit deaf in the last few days or rasing the arm at the back has made things quieter — pretty sure the amp is closer to 10 o'clock than 9 o'clock

I'm not going to say it sounds better because I'm pretty sure there's some bias in there :)

I've not been around for a few days so haven't spun that many records since fitting it — so I've only put about 4 or 5 hours play on it — it's great so far :)

Got about 20 hours on mine, dunno when they start to open up! but sounds good at the min - if anything a little forward or it could be my new amp :)

Sounds like you have a lovely system there now you're back in the church of Rega. Are you going to post pictures?

Just noticed your not using the Rega Protractor?

I was advised use the protractor for the arm you are using!

It looks fine to me JC but I could be wrong!

Regarding pick up of dust, I dont find it any different to the Exact tbh
