Teac CR-H258i - irritating muting between tracks

I recently bought one of these Teac mini Hi Fis as part of a secondary system for my study - was very pleased with it - but have found one irritation when I listen to CDs where the track number changes while music is still playing - eg J S Bach cantatas, where the last note / chord of track n is still sounding as the track number on the display advances to track n+1. What happens is that as the track number changes, the audio is temporarily muted. I have found that this occurs on digital sources, ie CD, USB and SD card. I've played one of the CDs where this occurs from an external Walkman CD player plugged into one of the external Aux sources and this muting does not occur. It looks, therefore as if it is something to do with digital sources.

I haven't tried it on the FM setting as I am using a sony tuner plugged into one of the Aux inputs (defeating the object of the Teac to some extent !). I cannot find any reference to this in the manual.

Does anyone know whether this is:

a) an intended design 'feature' that cannot be 'neutralized',

b) a design shortcoming

c) a fault

d) an adjustment that somehow can be tweaked. ????

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Howard
