System for a room 25ft by 12ft

What would be the best system for a room of this size. Would a marantz pm6003 be ok and would i need floorstanders or could i get away with book shelf speakers. Will roughly have around between £600-800 max for an amp and speakers including cable. May also be getting an arcam irdock but that can wait as the amp and speakers are a priorty. Thanks for your help

Similar in size to my listening space.
Which way will you be firing the speakers? Down the room (long) or across (short)?

probably long ways down the room as the room is in fact a lounge and a dining room joined together.

Looking at whats on offer at the moment i would consider the Monitor Audio Bronze BX5 floor stander at £450 ish. Half decent sensitivity at 90db, need some room but a great all rounder and well reviewed by all accounts.

The Marantz may work with these speakers but sometimes this combo can be bright. I would consider the Cambridge Audio Azur 650A and again i'm not 100% on the synergy so auditioning would be an idea if possible.
