Synology Cloud

I see that within the revise desktop update for my DS 211j there is an option to set up a self hosted cloud.

I use the very good DS Audio app to stream music and DS Photo for images so what would I hope to gain by setting this up?

Would offer you similar functions as Dropbox does i.e. sharing files with other people across the internet, and also the ability to easily sync files and folders between devices whilst maintaining a central copy on your NAS - those are the main ways I use it.
