I have a post in the Home Cinema section of this forum regarding how bright my system is....I have only had the amp less than 24hours but now unable to listen to it as it gives me a headache (Pioneer VSX-918-V-k)..now im hoping the shop i bought it from will do me a swap for a good hi fi amp..im looking at the Denon PMA 500, will this be an ok match with the Tannoy Mercury F1 Customs? (on Atacam stands and using QED classic 79 speaker wire)

Living room is 11'5" x 22' long.....

Music tastes are mainly hard dance, trance, metal plus various other music tastes.

Other amps: Yamaha AX397

Pioneer A307R

Onkyo A9155

Messiah:Why not demo the various amps and find out which one is the best match for you??

I did ask for a demo but they said that both rooms were set up with expensive equipment for 2customers to audition....guess my budget was not worth the set up to hear it.

if you get the denon and dont like it, you will still be able to swop it for one of the others, as long as you have the receipt and return it in original condition

... it's consumer law ... if there is no time specified for returns, I think there is a 28 day period in which to get a refund or swop (assuming you live in the EU/UK)

That aspect of consumer law, that a buyer has a right to exchange or refund a product if they've just changed their mind, is news to me...

So what your saying is that i have no rights to exchange it?....even though i did ask to demo the set up and they said i couldn't due to having both demo rooms kitted out for customers, all i wanted was to hear it even if it was just on the shop floor.

Maybe find another dealer who is willing to accommodate you. If they are any good and worth your money they will arrange for you to demo the kit!

shugsy where are you from? the ax397 is nice also is the a309r or the a209r

I can't help feeling that these are all going to sound a bit bright/harsh. Don't go Japanese. Get a NAD or an Arcam or something like that.
