The wife and kid are away for 5 days, so it was clearly time to pull the sub out of the cupboard

I now have it sitting out practically in the middle of the room, not tucked away in the corner as practicality usually dictates. Although it is sealed, it sounds much better with some space around it :rockout:

Just thought I'd share some of my enthusiasm for music and my system. Regular transmission will soon resume and we can all go back to "discussing" cables, bitrates, active Vs. passive, etc. :silenced:

Never heard XX. Will check it out.

Currently whatever shuffle on my iPod classic gives me, which for the last 3 tracks has been chemical brothers, Audio Active and Aphex Twin.

I will also be listening to these

I've been looking for a nice second hand sub for around 100 pounds that just brings out this sort of music if you have any suggestions?

Sorry, I haven't auditioned many subs and AFAIK my sub (Fostex CW200A) is only available in Japan. It was just a cheap experiment at first but I'm very happy with it. There are bigger subs that go deeper, but for my room size this is ideal.

The only advice I really have is try to get a sub with a sealed cabinet, preferably made for music rather than LFE for home cinema and be prepared to take the time fiddling with the cross over frequency and other settings so that it integrates with your current speakers and room.
