Streaming or new cdp?

Are the times of cd gone? Is it wise to buy a new cdp like the marantz cd 6004 or better a logitech touch with a good dac?

A lot depends on what equipment you already have, your budget and what you hope to achieve.

Speakers are MA RX 6, amp NAD c355 (will be a marantz pm 6004 or pm lite). i will then all my cd's put on a NAS server.

you may find the dac in the touch is as good as that in the 6004......

If you're prepared for the task of putting your CDs onto NAS and like the idea of using a streamer then I can see no reason to buy a CD player. Are you thinking about this from a SQ PoV?

If so, it may reassure to know that I sold a leading £2K CD player recently as I could hear no difference between it and the Squeezebox Touch. Many people on this forum use the Squeezebox Touch, and I think the general consensus is that they are very good and have no need for an external DAC. Of course, you can always add a DAC later if you feel the need.
