Hi,

I'm still without my Yamaha RXV1900 which I ordered and paid in total amount last days in 2008 at Exceptional-av. I must say that Hunter Abot is kind with me and full of promises, but this didn't help me to get my machine until now.

Does someone knows, how goes with 2008 orders for 1900 or if someone who ordered it in last days of December2008, had already got it.

Thanks,

Thomas

I'd ask for my money back. Looks like you've been had. They can't possibly be that hard to come by. Your dealer shouldn't have made you pay for it until he had it ready to deliver. Very strange set of circumstances.

I wouldn't go so far as to say you've been had but your dealer is definitely not giving you the attention you deserve. Demand a refund. I bought a Z7 last month and the dealer had everything from the 863SE upwards in stock.

I'm not from UK and to demand refundation it will cost me certain money, cause I paid something for bank transfer to send them money and if I ask them to give me money back, it will cost me some more money and I don't belive that they will refund me all my costs. And if I'm waiting more than 3 months...... few days more isn't a lot. I'm curious and I would like to hear from other victims what is situation with others who ordered RXV1900 around New Year - if I'm the only one who didn't get it or there are many of us.

Hi,

Give them a call and tell them you want a full refund.

They have not supplied you with goods which you have paid for within a reasonable amount of time and because of this you are cancelling the order.

The telephone call may be enough to snap them into life.

Where are you from that you don't have a Yamaha dealership in your country?

Cheers,

Cofnchtr.

Hi Tom,

I ordered the RX-V1900 on 22nd December and was still waiting for it until I finally cancelled last week. I was running out of things to say after it went past 100 days of waiting. I appreciate yours is a bit more complicted than mine because of the international transfer, but you are not the only person who has been in this situation. I don't think Yamaha have been very forthcoming with exceptional-av, so there probably isn't an awful lot they can do as they can't get information or deliveries from the manufacturer.

Thanks for reply, I see now that I'm not the only one.

I'm from Austria and on that time (Dec.2008) there was no RXV1900 model in shops to buy in our region (Austria, Germany), I found only 2 german web shops also without exact promise about delivery date and with price over 1.300 pounds. That's why I decided for Exceptional-av.

I will try to solve my problem this week and if I'll need any suggestions, I'll ask for them.

Thanks again,

Tom

Hi,

I've been speaking with Hunter today and he told me that I'm sixth on their waiting list and they couldn't get as much as they want amps to cover all orders from past. Well, his explanation was not very convincing, by my opinion. He said as well that they have meeting with Yamaha UK this week and after thius meeting everything will be much more clear. We'll see.

Tom

Personally I would tell them to stick it, after all they've taken your money and shouldn't have.

Hi,

I'd still be asking about a full refund. If you're definite you want a Yamaha you may have to look elsewhere. Exceptional-AV may be in a good position to offer you an Onkyo - this may or may not suit your tastes though.

Cheers,

Cofnchtr.

Hi,

they are offering me Onkyo TX-SR876 to substitute Yamaha, but I'm not sure if this is good solution. I didn't listen any of them (just older models) but I have decided in my head to have Yamaha. And the price for Yam was nice, this should be part of problems Exceptional-av has now.

Is Onkyo good sustitution (for B&W 685Theater, Pioneer BDP51FD, Thorens MK125)?

T.

I was like you Tomving, I had paid for my RX-V1900 in full at point of order, but I had waited since before Christmas and if the delivery was due very soon, I didn't want to cancel. Eventually I had had enough waiting and I decided to cancel my order last week. There was absolutely no problem with exceptional-av giving me a full refund, no hassle, no arguments.

Exceptional-av offered me an Onkyo 876 as an alternative but I was in no way pressured to accept this instead of a refund. They were offering it at a very competitive price as well, but I wanted to go back out to the market as it had been some time since I did any research. I am sure they would provide you with a refund if you cancelled your order, but transfer charges and exchange rates may mean this is not a good idea for you.

The last I was told was that they had a meeting with Yamaha on the 16th (tomorrow) when they would get an update. It's incredible that Yamaha can't provide any information regarding deliveries. Absolutely incredible. I wouldn't buy anything from Yamaha now which is not in stock.

I haven't heard the Onkyo 876 yet, so I can't really say if it is a suitable alternative.

The switch selling to Onkyo seems a common thing.......

Yamaha are quoting end of May for many of their AV amps at the moment (we met with our rep yesterday), so anybody waiting for one, especially if you're not first in your dealers queue, I wouldn't hold too much hope for on over the coming month or so.

Regards

David

David,

Is the stock problem mainly with AV receivers or are other equipment affected at present? Are certain manufacturers more affected than others and what are they doing to rectify it as if they're waiting for currency fluctuations, I think they could be waiting for some time.

Many manufacturers are affected. I'd say they're all affected differently, but most of them seem to be quoting end of May for everything - either they all use the same 'slow boat from China', or they know something we don't!

I think with Yamaha it's mainly AV receivers. Maybe it's because these are boom products whereas other products like CD players and DVD players are plodding along.

I just bought a RXV1900 a few days ago from the the home cinema center had them in stock maybe i was just lucky did ask for the 863 first off but was out of stock and could been a few weeks waiting so went for the 1900 as they had it in the shop.

They might still have some

This information I've got yesterday from Exceptional-av.

Yesterday afternoon we had a meeting with Yamaha UK at their Milton Keynes head office and we have some good news. It may not be the news you were looking for in terms of timings but they have assured us that with the 863 and 763 our back order will be being fulfilled as there have been rumours flying round the internet that there were no more of these models arriving in the UK.

Yamaha are preparing a delivery schedule for our back orders as they now have stock in boats on the way to the UK from Japan, and know when it will be arriving in the UK. They will be sending us this spreadsheet with accurate dates on Monday/Tuesday at which point we will be able to give you precise timings. I understand this is very difficult, but please sit tight and we will have all the information you have been waiting for on Monday/Tuesday.

Thank you for your kind understanding and I look forward to giving you good news as soon as our spreadsheet arrives.

Thanks for the info tomving. We're seeing Yamaha next week too, so will try and get them to confirm delivery dates too.

So you ordered before Christmas last year...FOUR months ago...and Yamaha have finally got stock in boats. Here's a questions...how come for the last 4 months they have been telling exceptional-av they were 1-2 weeks away from delivery, when clearly they have only just shipped them. What's changed? How come they can tell now, but they couldn't tell for the last 4 months?

I had ordered an RX-V1900 but I now own a Yamaha RX-V3900 which I found in stock somewhere else. It's a brilliant receiver. I would never consider buying a Yamaha unit in the future if it wasn't in stock.

Knowing people like tomving have been waiting four months with no info, how many more people do you think will be rushing out to buy Yamaha Receivers if they have to order them in? I wouldn't.

It's not unknown for a dealer to say deliveries are imminent just to get the sale. I'm not saying this is the case, but Yamaha have been straight with us all along about delivery dates and numbers.

What i don't understand is if they were in such short supply how could other dealers get them so easily all i did was make 2 phone calls and i had bought the amp was it just luck.

It's said and it's a bit misterious all together, someone isn't correct in this (or my) story. They are telling (Yamaha) that the production needs its time. Understandable, but, I'm working with China and Vietnam (it's not electronics, but anyway) some bussines and it takes 2-3 months from my order to get things in Europe and they haven't products in stock, they have to make them. And our company is small and not important. For such company as Yamaha is...... they should be more advanced to serve their clients. To wait 4, 5 months to get a product, it's like to be in Marco Polo's time. This is, generally, Yamaha's problem for sure, how they are organised, and, if someone can get receiver, as Senna94 says, probably is the problem with Exceptional-av as well.

Anyway, after such a long time, Yamaha should give official statement (I didn't find it), if they take just a piece of care for their waiting buyers.

Now I'm waiting last promised information for today from E-av ...........

Maybe I was just lucky too but I just walked into my local dealer (Creative Audio in Shrewsbury) and bought one there and then, they'd just had 4 in. I don't know how good their stocks are now but its worth checking them out.

I know how you feel i was getting the Sony 2400 which i had bought of Amazon in Feb only to be told unable to deliver till April then May/ June so in the end i just cancel. But least Amazon did not take any money off my card.Which i think is the way this kinda thing should be done if they dont have the item in stock.

I got a better amp but did pay a lot more than the 390 Amazon wanted for the Sony.
