Stello DA100 Signature DAC vs Audiolab 8000cd

Would this DAC be an upgrade over the sound from my Audiolab 8000CD player? I want a DAC that will be good for playing FLAC files but also be an upgrade for my CD player. Unfortunately a home trial isn't an option as I have to import.

I would go for Stello D220 mk2 with USB input. Would it out preform Audiolab? Easy!

Ditto that. I think that two-box combo would cane the (good though it is) Audiolab.

Thanks, though there is quite a price difference ($895 vs $1600). Ideally I'd like to stay below 1k.

$1600!?? Now that is cheap, Have you seen the UK's list price? Double that and you are not far off! Grrrr

I just followed the link off the April Music site...i thought only us antipodeans got stung that badly

So I take it the DA100 and DA100 Signature aren't so well regarded?

It's not that they are not very good but most Stello owners seem to go for D220. I have briefly own a D200 and it's fantastic. Why did I sold it? A momentary lack of reason.....BIG TIME!
