Hi.

I don't have the premium service of spotify and at the moment I send the sound via the headphone out of my laptop to my stereo amp CA540A v.2.

I now have a beresford tc7510 dac (for squeezebox use). To get the sound to this dac I need a usb to spdif converter and cables (cost around £40) Is it worth it? I mean spotify is what 160kbps and plus I'm not sure what windows vista does to this audio before it leaves the laptop? Resampling maybe? So I'm not sure if it's worth spending £40 extra.

What do you think guys?

i'd go for it, laptops arent known for having the best soundcards onboard. btw i dont know about the beresford and whether it has a usb input you can use, if it doesnt and you were going usb from your lappy check your headphone out on your laptop isnt mini spdif (im not very technical) enabled as i know some are.
