Hello everybody,
First of all, let me apologize for my English which is not that good I'm afraid. But I hope you guys will understand me.
A month ago, me and my girlfriend bought our first house. Of course, I now want to invest in a good home theatre. Unfortunately, I don't know that much about the subject. But I already did some research (Youtube, reviews, fora etc.). Still, I need some advice from the experts.
What am I looking for?
Speakers! Good ones. They will be attached to my television and they will be used for watching television (news, soaps, sports,...), movies/series, gaming and music (hip-hop, rock, pop, 60',... quite all-round).
What's my budget?
I am willing to spend -as a start - 1500€. This is more or less 1650$ or 1055£. With this budget, I want to be able to buy at least two good speakers. I can always expand or upgrade in the future.
How does my living room looks like?
So the distance between me and the television is more or less 4 meter. That's about 13 feet if Google is right. I placed the B&W speakers as an example, to give you guys an impression of the scale.
What do I want?
That's the question! I don't what's the best solution for a small living room like mine. Should I go for bookshelves or floorstanders? Should I add a centre speaker? Should I add a subwoofer? ... That's where I need your help guys because I haven't got a clue.
Fun or accuracy?
I'm not an audiophile at all. Of course, I want some accurate sound but at the end: they have to add to the immersion while watching action-movies and stuff.
Which options did I already consider?
As floorstanding speakers, I already watched into:
- B&W 683 S2: they look gorgeous and if I may believe the reviews, they deliver enough bass so I won't need a separate subwoofer. But aren't they too big for my living room?
As bookshelves, I already watched into:
- B&W 685 S2: they look gorgeous too and the reviews are quite positive. They are a lot cheaper than the floorstanding speakers I mentioned so I would save some money to buy a subwoofer, for example.
- DALI Zensor 3: I love the design, reviews are ok and they are even cheaper than the B&W.
Questions I have?
-What do you think of the speakers I mention, good choice or better alternatives?
-What would you prefer in my situation: floorstanders or bookshelves?
-Would a centre speaker be an improvement (floorstanders/bookshelves)
-Would a subwoofer be an improvement (floorstanders/bookshelves)
-Would there be an option to upgrade to surround sound in the future? Or ain't that an option in my small living room?
-Any other remarks?
I want to thank you guys in advance for reading my topic. If you got any more questions for me, just ask!
Vince
