First post - I was wondering if someone can help me out – I am thinking of buying an Arcam Mini as a second system for my bedroom – I have a pair of Dali Ikon 2 Speakers that I have recently replaced for floorstanders – the Amp has a power output of 25w and the Dali speakers have a recommended power input of 30 to 75w – if I use this amp to drive them am I likely to damage either the amp or the speakers or are they close enough that as long as I don’t turn it up to loud all will be ok? Or am I better off buying a pair of budget speakers like MS902i that the amp will easily drive. With thanks

The Dalis can certainly use more power but if you don't hear very loud music, you will find that a 25 watts amp can drive them reasonably well. No, it will not damage anything. Just that if you turn the volume on the amp a bit to much you may not get the best sound it can produce.

You probably wont damage the speakers as Arcams power figures are usually fairly honest and the quality of the power is reasonable. In the event that the speakers do demand that current which the Arcam can't muster I aspect it will cut out preventing any damage. Just try it out and see, its pretty difficult do damage modern components. Otherwise i'd go for the a pair of Muso speakers.

They will sound great at even quite high volumes. The only thing that will damage your speakers is overcooking the volume to a really high level so that it clips. Arcam and Dali work well together in my opinion.
