speakers background noise

I got my Eagle International vintage amp with a pair of wharfedale speakers connected to my mini apple mac using a audio jack cable.

I got a permanent and very anoying background sound, .

I'll appreciate if somebody help me.

Usual noises are humming and hiss.

Sounds like mains noise, possibly ground loop situation somewhere.

Is it loud, or noticeable at distance and when playing music, or is it only audible close up?

Does it vary a lot with volume adjustments?
