Speaker Manufacturer Query

Hi,

Newbie here - 1st post. I've been buying the What Hi-Fi Sound and Vision magazine for a couple of months and regularly change my mind on what to save up for to get my first home cinema set up.

Reading the reviews and visiting local specialist shops I have a good idea on what manufacturers I will choose for everything except the speakers. I like the idea of smaller speakers rather than larger floor standing ones. My local specialist shop highly recommend M&K (Miller and Kreisel) speakers but these don't seem to feature that much in the magazines I have to date.

My surround speaker budget (5.1) for a home cinema set up is up to £2500 but I want to get the best and compact ones I can for this. I will be visiting the trade show in November before I commit to anything too.

M&K has ceased production - see here for the announcement. At the level you're suggesting, and with the requirement for compact speakers, I'd suggest the Tannoy Area Highline range as being good for your needs, or the Dali Ikon 6 5.1 system, a consistent WHFSV favourite.
