Im new to all this cinema stuff, when going through the online manuals for the Onkyo 606 it says "insert bare wire and turn knob" but all the speaker wire ive dealt with in the past, but when looking at decent QED cables(to me they look like the old tv ariel cable), so two things i need to know about this looking at the back of the AVR can i use the airlok plug, and is it hard to fit, i know online stores fit them for a fee, and do they make much difference.

And the speaker end for the Jamo A102HCS5 what connecters do i need, if i need none whats the best way to strip the wire and seperate them to wire it up.

I have done a few threads on speaker cables but i dont get many replies whats the best section to ask.

Thanks

You should be able to use the Airloc plug with the 606. Whether you think it is worth the money is up to you. For piece of mind it may be worth paying for but you could also get some standard banana plugs and fit them yourself. Standard ones will be easier to refit if you want to change cables at a later date.

You could just use the bare wire of course (IMO it makes little difference to the sound) but plugs are a lot easier!

As for the Speakers, I am unsure how they are terminated. If there are room for plugs then great! If it is bare wire then personally I find a stanley knife and a steadt hand do the job of splitting and stripping the cable nicely.

Hope this helps.

At least you have a reply!!

Did I read another topic about this though and you were gonna buy the 'cheap' speakers for now and upgrade later??
