Speaker cables into terminals!

Just wanted to know how everyone else overcame this issue.

I bought some thicker cable for my speakers. Not 'thick' cable by any means, 2x2.5mm Van Damme. Anyway, i've had endless trouble trying to fit the damn cable into the spring-type terminals on my speakers. In the end, I managed to get a good deal of the strands into the terminals, but there are still quite a few strands 'bunched up' around the terminals.

The sound seems unaffected so I've just left it like this, but it's always at the back of my mind.

Joseph 🙂

That's the drawback of spring clips. It is very hard to fit thicker cables into them easily and reliably.

You could gently twist the bare strands together (not too much as this increases the overall diameter of the cable) and tin the ends with solder so the strands don't go astray when plugging the cables in.

Or you could use something like these
