My full review of the SoundMagic HP100 that I purchased, which sounds quite amazing. http://www.hifiheadphones.co.uk/forum/headphone-reviews/1778-soundmagic-hp100-stereo-headphone-full-review.html

Hey Dale! Great review and what an interesting pair if headphones!! I had not heard of these at all. They must be really good to be better than the Amperior and M50 🙂. These could be perfect for my office, stop making me want to buy things 😛

Hey how is the sound isolation in these phones? I couldn't see any mention of it in your review.

Isolation is average at best, but while leakage is small, if you played them loudly in a quiet office, the person in the next cube could hear a faint sound. So I would say moderate volume only in office, but on public transport, no issues. Listening in heavy traffic or in a noisy plane seat might be a problem.

Thanks Dale! I am highly tempted by these, like you say lets see how they compare to the M-100. I was just showing the wife the white M-100 and now she wants one 🙂. The price of the SoundMAGIC HP100 here is quite reasonable actually. Was the $200 you mentioned without tax?

Most items in the U.S. I've found I can multiply by 0.8 to get the U.K. price in pounds with VAT. At that price they're a good deal certainly. Unlike most reviews that criticize their looks, I think they look good. Not as good as v-moda white though. I do expect a big difference in treble compared to the M100. It seems very unlikely Val would go for a flat treble on the M100, since that would go against everything I know about his audiophile efforts, and the major industry trends.

I am going to try a couple of UK distibutors for the SoundMAGIC HP100, if that doesn't turn up anything then I think I will just buy them. I just read the Sennheiser Momentum review of Head-fi and that sounds interesting too. That was another model that I showed the wife and she loved the look of. The last one was the white VModa M-100, I think she is after one of those.

I agree with your expectations for the M-100, I'm really curious and am glad I have the DT880 to compare it to now as well because that shows how strong treble can be done well.
