Sound distortion

I'm not technically minded but need a bit of advice. I have a basic turntable set-up: 2 Stanton str8 100's through a Numark mixer to a Tangent 100 amp.

Everything was working fine til recently when I bought a new table for everything to sit on. I set everything up properly but since then, the sound has been horribly distorted. I don't know what I've done! Please help.

Did you make a wrong cable connection?

Does your mixer have a switch for MM or MC cartridges? Or a different input perhaps?

I've done the basics: triple-checked my connections, swapped cables over, swapped channels, moved from phono to line and back etc. I get either no sound or distortion.

There's no MM/MC switch.

Fixed! Your comment on 'input' got me thinking. I'd plugged the mixer into the phono input on the amp. Way too sensitive! I swapped it to an aux and hey presto.
