Please Guys help me i really want a soundbar/soundbase but i dont know which i prefer i prefer not having a seperate sub if possible and a sales rep in richer sounds told me the sound quality on soundbase's are a lot better than on sound bars but im read diffrent things on diffrent sites and pages ive been hearing good things about the cambridge audio minx tv which is 200 pounds i have also come across the maxell 252 for only 75 pounds i also was recommended the onkyo lst10 which is 300 pounds whatever i get must have decent quality in terms of dialogue as theres nothing worse than the base being too loud so you cant hear voices please help me i have spend so many hours reading so many diffrent opinions

I've not heard either myself, but I would want to have a listen to them first.

Can you go back to Richers and have a demo, or is there another dealer local to you can can arrange a demo?

I tried to have a demo in richer but there was a lot going on with other demos and louds of noise ideally i wanted to hear amovie that goes form big bold action to quiet conversations but there was never a spell of quiet in the store for me to have a proper listen im so stuck with what to target as tehres so many options in so many diffrent price ranges if i could just decide if a sound bar or sound base is best i could narrow it a little bit thank you for your response i shall definately try to find richer sounds at a quiet moment i may phone and see if i could take a blu ray in to try to see the transition from loud to quiet ect

If you buy a soundbase you just sit the tv on top but if you buy a soundbar you would have to place it it in front of the tv, i agree though have a demo it's not necesserily whats better but what works better for you.

i am definately gonna have to have a demo cosmetically i know the diffrence but in terms of sound looking a the sound bars compared to soundbases i would guess that soundbases have the compacity to have a much deeper richer sound due to the depth ect and the fact that they have the subbs built in but there is not a huge selection in the electrica shops in my area the selection of soundbars seems so much bigger im just really trying to get an idea if in general sound bases are considered better or worse than sound bars its so hard to grasp the sound quality in shops ect and the lack of speaker shops in my area means im pretty much stuck with a very small richer sounds or currys do either of you guys have any opinion in which would have the better sound out of the two or have you heard much as like i say im hearing mixed things in general i think if you look on 100 sites you will see 100 completely diffrent opinions there doesnt seem to be a unanimous winner thanks for your time in writting on here

It sounds like your local store does not have a demo room.

If they do - ask them to set up a demonstration for you, at a time when they can arrange it - say during the week when they are quieter.

If they do not have a demo room, can you go into the store during the week on a 'quiet' day when there is likely to be less customers in the store and therefore it should be quieter?

Don't be shy in asking, it's your money.
