I have connected the STR-DG820 to my system last night. In brief the simplified system looks as follws V+Box to the Amp (Sat HDMI) input and Amp (HDMI output) to the TV (HDMI input). The picture quality is fine as it the surround sound audio through the Amp. I am not receiving any audio output back to the TV (No sound trough the TV speakers – not muted - turning up the TV volume has no effect as well) if I turn the Amp’s volume down and the TV’s volume up. I get the impression that no audio gets relayed through the amp HDMI output.

Any suggestions as to what the issue may be ?

Note : The LG TV has an option whereby the TV’s speakers can be disabled, I have checked it and can confirm that it is still enabled

Andrew Everard:You need to set the HDMI audio output to TV+AMP. See manual p54.

Which I find good not to as it means that people start turning the tv up and we get double sound.

With you on that one, but it's clearly what the OP wants...

Thank you Andrew. It would have taken ages for me to track this down.

Keep up the good work.

Regards

Surely if you are listening to the tv audio, you would know to have the amp speakers switched off?

The other way around is the problem. People forget that the volume is up on the tv and then turn the amp on and you get double sound. Anyway, why have an amp if you were not going to use it? I prefer the news and everything with the sound from the amp.
