Does anyone know an online retailer that has the above black av receiver in stock ? Have been searching for a few days with no luck. Has it sold out due to the good reviews in WHFSV ??

Wasn't aware that it had sold out, but we are in the middle of the model changeover period, with stocks of current models being phased and new ones coming in. However, AFAIK this model is still current.

RS website says (about the black version):
Stock due back from Sony early March, we are badgering Steve at Sony for some stock sooner...watch this space.

I called RS yesterday. As soon as they tell you it's out of stock they try to get you into the shop to buy another amp. Took a while to get him off the phone !
Amazon are stating that it'll be delivered within 1 or 2 months (so they don't have any) and SuperFi don't have it in black according to their stock enquiry.

Sorry slewis but Neither amazon or superfi have the black in stock - Amazon have been out of stock for months and are quoting 1 - 2 months delivery &ÿSuperfi have the silver only.
I too am still waiting and searching - is this model due a refresh soon so stock levels are being run down or is it just very popular?ÿ
If you do find it in stock somewhere, post it here so us other DA2400ESB hunters can join you ! Spike at least you were on the phone to RS, I was in a store and they were desperate to try and sell me anything (even a teac stereo amp although I was looking for a cinema receiver) which, considering what good customer service they usually have, was quite unexpected ! Also, has anyone tried to call their local store and just been re-directed to a call centre ?)ÿ

I used to like RS but sounds as though they are desperate to sell us anything at the moment.
Spoke to Sony Centre & it seems as though all the Sony stock is going to them before any other retailers. They do have it in stock but for £540 !!!!!!

I'm not that keen on RS, they are definately developing a bit of an attitude. I find it impossible to speak with my local store on the phone directly (Cardiff - you are named and shamed!), and have been redirected to the unhelpful call centre when they can be bothered or otherwise just disconnected. And this was an afternoon in the middle of the week - how busy can they be at that time (c'mon). The call centre person also couldn't be bothered to be helpful (obviously getting no commission) so I just went somewhere else in the end. The RS website is also pretty rubbish, as everything is "out of stock" or "only available in store" but you then can't get through to check availability. In the end, after some negotiation, I bought my stuff from a very helpful Sony Centre and ended up paying about the same as RS anyway.
By the way if you can live with Silver (which is quite nice), the STR-DA2400ES is available at Play.Com for £349.99 (at that price I would live with the colour)...

I was also looking to buy a pro-ject elite turntable, but although the customer service centre said they had some in stock at my local branch, when I got there they had none in the store which were working, or for sale !?. However they said they'd order me one and call me on Monday and tell me when to expect it, as well as when they would be getting the 2400, a marantz cd player and soundstyle stands which I also wanted. ÿ3 and a half weeks later......nothing. And now every time I try to call the store and see what is happening I just get that 'being redirected' message so I can't speak to them. I don't really want to spend my weekends traipsing down to an RS store to find they still have no stock and have no idea when they'll be getting any. And for the couple of quid you save, is it really worth all the hassle.

Enjoy it - it looks like a very good price for this quality receiver (and IMO black and silver look pretty good together!). I'm currently trying to convince my wife to let me buy one...

do what I did and don't tell her - mind you our house is being renovated so just another box arriving will probably not be noticed (no comment on the blu-ray player and soundstyle stands so far!) ÿand I'm hoping she's forgotten what the old Marantz looked like !ÿ
