I have to turn my amp up to around 80%of its max volume, and vocals are very local.

this is not the same with sky, xbox, cd player and mp3 etc... thus must be the blu rays.

I am playing it through stereo speakers.

see below for set up.

anyone else got these problems?

Your Cambridge amp is rubbish. Sorry, but it is true.

The sound on the Sony S370 is fantastic, PCM or Bitstream.

That's a very unhelpful answer! The OP has clearly mentioned:

Certainly there's something wrong with the settings. How have you connected it?

My Cambridge audio amp has little to do with it, as in terms of volume with CD, Tv, IPOD, xbox it is fine, I know i need a new stero amp, but the Sony blu ray should be able to dish out the same volume peaks as my other connections.

i have it connected via HDMI, have tried different leads and also different ports.

I know there are options in the menu under audio but need some guidance.

Really rubbish answer and no need for it either.

I can see why you are touchy. But....the cambridge amp really is rubbish.....A1, A3, A5...the lot.

What you need is an AV Receiver. You already have a stereo amp.

In all honesty there is nothing wrong with your system.

I've always watched movies in stereo and you always had to crank up the volume as compared to CDs to hear dialogue.

With Blu-rays it's unfortunately worse - you have to raise the volume even more.

I'm now considering getting a soundbar.

thanks for all the helpful replies.

I think its is mainly what Manicm noted. stereo sound does have poor dialogue volume.

yeh i changed it to Stereo sound initial set up.
