Sony NW-A55L or iPhone

Hi. I have been looking at the Sony player to use through my ifi Zen blue as I am now getting a bit fed up with my iPhone lowering the volume iOS 14 hearing protection thing and with my iPhone i only get AAC would I get a better results with the Sony player given that it has different codecs.
