Hi
I was just on the Sony web site and noticed there is a new LCD - “KDL-40X3500”
Looking at the specification of the 40X3500, it is Full HD ready, does 24p and is 100Mhz, plus it has a Contrast of 180000.
Doe anyone know more about this TV and how it compares to the Pioneer and Panasonics in this months issue of the super-test?

Thanks

"such a beast" - don't you mean white elephant as there are no HD freeview broadcasts for it to receive (yet ? - would this tuner be able to receive the mooted BBC HD freeview service as mentioned in 'LATEST' ?)

Also, I've seen a KDL40X3000 advertised recently, is this the same tv as the KDL40X3500 ? What's the difference?

The X3000 and X3500 are on sale in the States as the XBR4 and XBR5 where the only difference seems to be whether you can interchange the bezel or not. However, comparing specs between countries can become a bit of a minefield. The sets appear to be launching 5 Oct over here. I wonder when a review of the 40X3500 will become available?
