Would someone please give me some advice?I'm thinking of buying the Sony dav-is 10, but i'm no expert and need a bit of advice regarding the set up.I want to connect it to my Samsung LCD, it only has 1 HDMI input, and also my PS3, which is connected by the HDMI connection at the minute.A friend of mine suggested buying a 2-way HDMI selector, with the dav-is 10 and PS3 both plugged into that, and then the tv connected to the dav-is 10 via an optical digital cable.Would this be the best option? Thanks for any help.

Mmm, surely you'd be better off hooking the PS3 into the DAV-IS10 via optical, then the TV via standard analogue RCA cables. Otherwise, won't you lose the 5.1 surround on the PS3?

Indeed, but the way he's suggesting he will also get the sound from the TV through the system, even if it's only in PLII.

The best solution, of course, is to connect either the way the prof suggests, or if the TV has an optical out, to connect both it and the PS3 to the system that way, using an optical switcher.

Indeed. I'm still languishing in stereo phono land. TVs with digital outputs? I've heard it all now.

Digital TV, innit? The new wonder of the modern age...

Digital TVs? i.e Freeview? My TV has freeview built in, as did my old CRT before it. Neither has digital outputs.

Well, some of these newfangled flat things do.

Oh well. No big loss. Until I get my hands on a 46X3500, I'll stick with my stereo phonos and DTS:Neo 6.....

You're not missing anything, as of course Freeview is only stereo at best. Not sure whether the new Freesat-capable TVs can output Dolby Dig via an optical out - must remember to check with the review crew.
