That's a really good deal, I think I paid £220 from Amazon last month but even they've put the price up and it's nearly £300 at some retailers.

That is tempting. Have been considering the Pioneer BDP-51 but this more than £100 cheaper.

Any issues with this player to take into account? How is standard DVD playback?

None whatsoever. It beats my old Denon 1940 for dvd upscaling and that is a very good player.

Looks like it. This is profile 2 out of the box and comes with multichannel analogue outs, if you have a receiver that doesn't have any Hdmi outputs.

Hmmm, it's a lot less money than the Pioneer. I'm not sure it's better. Depends what you want from the player I guess.

How does this player compare to the Panasonic DMP-BD55. I know the prices are different, but just wondering if the Panasonic is worth the extra?

The Panasonic BD55 is the superior player of the two. It's not me saying it but the reviewers of this magazine....also, it's a Product of the year.

Dont forget the Sony is still a 5 star product so still a great player.
