Sony BDP-S550 EXT Memory not recognised

Hi

I have a problem with the Sony BDP-S550 Blu-ray player, it doesn't recognise/see the external USB flash memory anymore. I've tried as the manual suggests, powering of the player, taking the memory out and back in and powering back up, also the EXT indicator on the front panel is not lighting up.

Any ideas?

Have you used the USB 'stick' for anything else? If so, it may now have content on it the Sony can't recognise, which is causing the problem.

Shove the stick in a computer and wipe it, then try again. Or try another stick and see whether the player recognises that.

If so, could be that the USB stick has failed - which is hardly a rare occurence. If the second stick doesn't work, could be that something inside the player has gone amiss.

I'd try setting the player back to its factory defaults - see manual p55 - and see whether that cures it.
