I have just connected up my new Sony 350 player to a Denon 2808 amp via a QED HDMI cable for audio and component for video (no HD tv yet). When a BD disc is played the audio is shown on the amp as PCM multi channel 48hz with Dolby True HD chosen. Dolby Digital is flagged O.K. If I put a DTS HD Master disc in it is shown as normal DTS. The discs I have used are Iron Man, Mamma Mia and Wall-E. I am not sure if Wall-E is supposed to be DTS or DTS HD Master, as I have heard the box is mis labeled.
The player is set so that Audio output priority is HDMI. Audio (HDMI) is Auto and BD Audio setting is Direct. The cable is inserted correctly with a snug fit. Video is component 480/576p.
When the display button is pressed Dolby True HD is shown. I don't know if this is just showing the soundtrack selected on the disc or the actual output from the HDMI socket.
The amp is set up for auto format decode and seems to work fine with DVD discs, both DD and DTS.
Is there a way of locking the player to output the bitstream as I think it is outputing PCM and downmixing DTS HD?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
